Greater Manchester Cadets Progress in Live Firing Marksmanship Principles.
Back In March 2022 several Greater Manchester Army Cadets took part in the first Target Sprint event using the Cadet Scorpion Air rifle.
Over the weekend of 22nd – 24th of April 2022 those same Cadets furthered their experience in Marksmanship by Attending Altcar Rifle Ranges, Hightown, where they were coached in firing the L81A2 7.62 Cadet Target Rifle at distance’s up to 300yds.
The weekend was started by cadets and staff undertaking the specific weapon handling test to enable them to safely handle and fire the weapon. Having passed this test cadets were coached at 100yds where they zeroed their weapon ready for moving back to 300yds to continue their Marksmanship practise by completing application of fire at the Bisley Bull 300yd target.
The Cadets that attended will form the Cadet Shooting Team and continue to practise working towards representing the County at The Northwest Competition and ultimately attending The National Shooting Centre Bisley, to compete in the National Inter Services Cadet Rifle Meeting where they will be shooting against other ACF Counties. This will include teams from the Air and Sea Cadets.
Cadet Colderley from No 5 (Anzio) Company, said “This has been a great weekend. I have enjoyed firing the Target Rifle I can’t wait for the next weekend”.
