First Aid Skills put to the test

9 May 2022

  • Humberside And South Yorkshire ACF

Saturday 7th May saw the return of a County Inter Coy First Aid competition, an occurrence which hasn’t taken place for at least 4 years now!

All the Cadets gave it a real good go and seemed to enjoy the experience. It was particularly pleasing to see a 1 Star Cadet get the highest Individual score of the day, and the casualties certainly seemed to enjoy getting made up with the Cas sim kit and acting out their roles!

On the day we had Captain Shaw and Captain Lundie completing the judging, assisted by guests from Lancashire ACF, their Medical support Officer (MSO) & County First Aid Training Officer (CFATO) . Thanks also go to Captain Johnson and SI Fretwell for managing the admin.

At the end of the competition the winners were announced and prizes awarded by the Deputy Commandant Lt Col Britchford.

Cdt Sherrat of C Coy was the champion Individual, and from B Coy Cpl Rea-Crossley Cdt’s Jenkins, Stinger & Curtis won the Team event and Sgt Bone & Cpl Ashworth won the Senior Team event, with the Champion Company trophy going to B Coy.

I’m sure we would all like to pass on our best wishes to B Company who will now represent HSY at the Brigade First Aid competition on the 18 June 2022.

Final message is to all the Company Staff Officers and First Aid Reps; please consider running an Inter Detachment competition sometime before the end of the year so potential team members can be identified and training started to represent your companies in next year's competition which will hopefully be held around the same time.
