Here’s what he had to say:

I’ve been in the Army Cadet Force for around four and a half years, I joined and both my uncle and grandad were in the army and I wanted to follow in their footsteps. I am thinking about joining the army.

I was promoted at the beginning of the year, being in the ACF has taught me so much including discipline and leadership skills – my confidence has grown so much and it’s changed me as a person.

Shooting is by far the best activity; I’ve also been part of the national rugby team which was great.

As a senior 3-star cadet I enjoy giving lessons and mentoring the younger cadets. Dedication will take you far. I was nervous when I first joined but the adult instructors helped you gain confidence and being in also helps you make lots of new friends.

Best bits: I fired the shot the first round on a section attack, what a buzz! I also got master shot at annual camp.

I would encourage anyone looking for a new hobby to grab a friend and come along – you won’t regret it
