Past and present members of Kent ACF were honoured to join family and friends today for the funeral service of Corporal Robert (Bob) Bumstead, ex-1 Royal Sussex & 3 Queen’s (SMI in Kent Army Cadet Force).
He passed peacefully in the early hours of 7 June 2022 at the Conquest Hospital, St. Leonards-on-Sea, with his family by his side. Bob is well known locally for his long service as Branch Secretary of the Hastings Branch of the Royal Sussex Regimental Association and also his 36 years' loyal service to the Kent ACF. Many will also remember Bob with fond memories as being their school bus driver.
Bob joined Kent ACF in May 1978, he received his ACF medal in 1990, Clasp 1 in 2000, 2 in 2006 and clasp 3 in 2013.
He was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 and the Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
Bob was also awarded a Lord Lieutenant's Certificate in 2008.
Bob and his wife Tricia ran the mess for many years providing a first class service, always a friendly smile and chat, with nothing being too much for them.
He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Requiescet in pace and thank you for all you did for the county.
