Third and fourth overall, out of seventeen competing teams from Army Cadets, from Scotland to Cornwall, was a brilliant result for cadets from Normandy Company!
With all cadets only having started training from zero knowledge and skills a few months ago, to achieving this impressive result speaks volumes; both for the determination and skills of the cadets as well as for the resolve and skills of instructors like SSI Rob Evered and Capt Eddie McGee.
Once again, HQ Signals at Blandford Camp in Dorset, was the location for the two day event that covered both classroom skills - for example, working out the code so that IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) would not explode - as well as outdoor intelligence gathering and subsequent information dissemination exercises, tested all the cadets to, and sometimes beyond, their limits.
Visits by Col Robbie Guest, Col Cadets HQSW and a former Somerset Commandant, and WO1 RSM David Lightfoot, Army Cadet Command Sergeant Major, enlivened proceedings as they took a keen interest in the activities.
Capt Eddie McGee, Lt Will Fisher and PI Amy Heath supported the two teams whilst signals expert SSI Rob Evered helped run the event.
Well done to all for the outstanding effort.
