SMI Debbie Callaghan, County PRO Greater Manchester ACF
Greater Manchester Army Cadets are now at the stage where we will begin to offer face to face training after almost 16 months of closure due to lockdown.
During the lockdown Army Cadets around the country moved their training online to ensure cadets continued to have access to cadet training. Greater Manchester ACF did our utmost to offer online training wherever our adult volunteers were able to do so.
Thank you to all the adult volunteers who will be returning to give the young people of Greater Manchester a positive cadet experience.
The detachments will not all be opening on the same night due to the work still needed to be completed. This is to ensure all our detachments can be made as covid safe as we can make them. Our adult volunteers and permanent staff are very committed to ensure this work is being done as fast and as safely as they possibly can, but also allowing our adult volunteers the time to complete the work during the time they have; when not in their own workplaces.
The first detachments to welcome cadets back are:
Hindley
Wigan
Bolton
Wherever possible, letters will be sent out to parents/carers to advise when your child's detachment is opening. Please also visit your detachment Facebook group to confirm the date and times as the opening dates will begin week commencing 19 July 2021. Please do not just turn up. Please check they are open first.
For new recruits wishing to join, more information will follow once I am advised and will be posted onto all our media sites. Please keep checking back.
Thank you to everyone for your patience over our time of closure. It won’t be long before every detachment is open again.
Exciting times ahead!
