14 Cadets were issued their Cap badges and Certificates last night at the Sword Company Enrolment ceremony
OC Major Bampfield and CSM Jo Hearn presented an inspiring ceremony to mark a new milestone for the new cadets at the beginning of their cadet experience.
Inspecting officers and guests were Col Britt Haggerty, Commandant of Wiltshire ACF. Squadron Sergeant Major, WO2 Walls from The Royal Wessex Yeomanry and Padre Jo Reid
The evening consisted of Maj Bampfield giving an opening talk, followed by Cadets from different cadres informing the new cadets about their experience as cadets and what they have to look forward to.
- Cdt Tandy from Abbey Park Detachment
- Cdt Bevington from Dorcan Detachment
- Cdt Buckle from Abbeyfield Detachment
- Cpl Stewart from Dorcan Detachment
- Sgt Drake from Abbey Park Detachment
CSM Jo Hearn gave a talk on why she and other adults volunteer as CFAVs and what we enjoy about the Army Cadets.
Then Cpl Stewart was given a surprise, with a promotion to Sgt
After a short break, the main ceremonial part of the night began.
The cadets marched into the drill hall and gave the Cadets Promise. Probably one of the first intakes in the country to give the Cadet Promise to honour the King.
These cadets have only joined recently and to carry our drill movements in front of an audience, at such an early stage of their cadet experience was inspiring.
They then marched individually to recieve their Cap Badge and Certificate from Col Haggert and WO2 Walls
At the end of the ceremony, Col Haggerty gave her closing address. Expressing her admiration for how well the cadets were turned out and the standard of their drill at this early stage. Additionally, she thanked the Adult Instructors who give up their time to ensure our cadets have the best experience possible.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
