Two of our fantastic cadets were honoured yesterday with the Deputy Lieutenant's Award, presented by Sir Steve Bullock who is the Deputy Lieutenant for the Borough of Lewisham. Sir Steve is the former Mayor of Lewisham and the local representative of the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, who is Her Majesty's representative in Greater London and is charged with upholding the dignity of the Crown.
Their detachment commanders wrote:
"Cadet Sergeant Bailey Williams of 96 Detachment received the reward for his enthusiastic participation and work within the detachment. He always is happy and keen to support the younger cadets and new recruits, the rewards also reflects the sterling work that he he does at home supporting and assisting his brothers both of whom are autistic. Between supporting his brothers and keeping up with his school work, he never fails to attend cadets where he is always enthusiastic and keen to face all challenges with a smile. Bailey is a first class cadet and everyone who works with him is struck by his good nature and unswerving commitment to duty."
"Cadet Corporal Elizabeth Hall of 92 Detachment was presented with the award for her volunteering outside cadets where she assists at a local scout group working with the Cubs who are aged between eight and eleven. Elizabeth started doing this as part of her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and has continued this in working towards her Silver Award. She also volunteers working with animals as an extra activity at the college that she attends where she is studying Animal Management.
She maintains her enthusiasm within Cadets supporting her detachment and helping to deliver Zoom lessons to cadets."
