SMI Debbie Callaghan, County Media Officer
A busy time for all the companies today. The items loaned to cadets was collected ready to return to Holcombe Moor tomorrow. Water bottles, bergens, bashers, waterproof jackets etc.
It was also the day when each company selected their company Drill Team for the Drill Competition that will take place tomorrow. Lots of practice took place on the Parade Square for this.
A rehearsal took place of all the Companies ahead of tomorrows County Parade. This was great to watch. (I will try to live video tomorrow but unfortunately the signal is so poor on camp it may not be possible)
A visit by CVQO to the cadets enrolled on this great qualification. All those not in uniform on the parade attended so a great number have enrolled already. If anyone else is interested, please speak to your detachment staff.
Three members of staff are leaving early tomorrow. Before leaving camp the Commandant, Col Catherine Harrison, presented each one with their Jubilee Medal which they have been awarded because of qualifying service to the Army Cadets. Major Martin Davies, Capt Andi Boulton and Lt Emma Harrison. Lt Harrison also received her long service ACF Medal after completing 12 years volunteer service with Greater Manchester ACF. Congratulations to them all.
This evening, cadets on the Company Drill Team, from No 4 (Korea) Company, were busy preparing their boots and uniform ahead of the County Drill Competition. That’s dedication.
The cadets free time in the evening is spent in the naafi or sitting chatting with their friends outside. All were enjoying themselves when I popped along to say hello and as usual, I can’t walk more than a foot without cadets asking for a photo to be taken, which is great.
The plan for tomorrow is the Inter Company Sports Competitions and the County Parade. Looking forward to this.
