Day 7 – Greater Manchester ACF Annual Camp 2022

24 August 2022

  • Greater Manchester ACF

SMI Debbie Callaghan, County Media Officer

Today was spent in camp where APC Training & Assessments were taking place in Drill & Turnout and First Aid. There was also Archery, STEM activities and air rifle coaching.

The final group of cadets who have been out on Expedition, Abseiling & Climbing near to Hadrian’s wall returned this afternoon as did the cadets out on Fieldcraft. All cadets are now back on camp with the training completed. Tomorrow will be for sports and other activities and Thursday will be a County Parade Day and presentations.

Chatting to the cadets is a pleasure and each one I spoke with have said they have really enjoyed the camp and the activities they have taken part in. For many this has been their first Annual Camp.

Also today, it was a 4am wake up for 6 staff on camp who travelled back to Manchester to attend the award ceremony by the Greater Manchester Lord Lieutenant Diane Hawkins JP LLB. On behalf of Greater Manchester ACF, the Commandant, Col Catherine Harrison, RSMI Dougie Craddock & a representative adult volunteer from each of the 5 Companies attended Gorton Monastery to collect The Queens Award for Voluntary Service (the MBE for volunteer groups).
