On 8th August 2023, cadets in Consett Detachment will be undertaking 'The Big Cut' where they will be cutting and shaving their hair for charity.
Cadets from the detachment have planned this event to both raise awareness of the charities, and make donations to them both.
Male cadets will be shaving their heads to raise money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, which supports serving personnel, veterans, and their families in their time of need.
Female cadets will be cutting at least 7 inches of hair off to raise money for SSAFA, and donate to the Little Princess Trust who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people, who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
