It was a busy evening at Christchurch Detachment, with presentations, a promotion and a farewell.

Detachment Commander SSI Caroline Elsson was presented with a Commander South West’s Coin for Excellence for her dedication and hard work during the COVID lockdown situation.

Maj Dom Brooks, East (El Alamein) Company Commander said; “ SSI Elsson had been working tirelessly at her Detachment since taking over just over a year ago, she has adapted her delivery to embrace Virtual training, with innovative ideas and a flair for engaging the Cadets."

Following on, there was another presentation of a 4* APC Pass for Cdt Sgt Ella McAlister, who, having delivered her Cadet in the Community presentation to Commandant Col Taylor completed the star level

This was followed on by Maj Brooks then promoting Sjt McAlister to Cdt Colour Sjt to complete a great evening for her. CSjt McAlister said; “I was really pleased to get my 4 Star Badge, getting promoted was the icing on the cake..”

Finally, it was a time to reflect on a Cadet career which has come to an end as Cpl Nick Gidman ‘aged out’ having reached 18yrs of age.

There was a Detachment Quiz, featuring a ‘Gidman Round’ followed by Cpl Gidman sharing the highlights of his time as a Cadet, including competing in two Ten Tors Events and becoming the first Cadet in Dorset ACF to gain a BTEC in Music Performance.
