By SSI Sue Sergison, Detachment Commander – Hindley, No 5 (Anzio) Company.
Over the weekend cadets from Hindley Detachment attended The Party in The Park, a local event to assist the organisers as well as putting on displays to show the public what activities the cadets take part in.
Cpl Bates, LCpl Hall, LCpl Anderson, Cadet Smith, Cadet Wildman and Cadet Clegg assisted with The Party in The Park at Leyland Park, Hindley. The cadets and staff supported the organisers with litter picking and assisting with other tasks. All the tasks undertaken will go towards the cadets, Cadet in the Community.
The cadets used the time well, which included actively recruiting and inviting potential new Cadets down to the detachment. We took the radios from the detachment for the cadets and staff to practice voice procedures and put on a First Aid display.
The sunshine and live Music made it an enjoyable day.
During our time at the event SI Bailey and several of the cadets were asked for help by a member of the public who had fallen. With injuries to her shoulder, hips and back they administered First Aid and assisted the paramedics with her transfer to the ambulance. The lady was in a neighbouring field and wasn’t mobile. One of our Bashas was used to shelter her from the hot sunshine whilst she was being taken care of. The elderly lady was out on her 84th birthday. We wish her well and a speedy recovery.
As the Detachment Commander, I am so proud of their achievements at the event. Thank you to them all.
