This Platinum Jubilee weekend has been amazing for so many reasons however the celebrations quickly turned to a life and death emergency situation at the Woolston Rovers Rugby match as a player took critically ill.

The critically ill individual needed the near by defibrillator which was only unveiled at the club in January this year by Charlotte Nichols MP.

An off duty nurse and SSI Austin Snelson from Warrington Detachment were on hand to help administer immediate first aid and more importantly the defibrillator.

Once the North West Ambulance arrived to stabilise the individual, the North West Air Ambulance arrived to take them to Broad Green Hospital where he is now recovering.

It is clear that the nearby defibrillator and the initial medical treatment substantially increased his survival chance helping him to make a full recovery.

On behalf of the Commandant, we would like to officially thank SSI Austin Snelson for his actions.
