With the first Fieldcraft weekend held by Derbyshire Army Cadets since the Covid Pandemic began, C Company descended upon Nesscliffe Training area last weekend with 118 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and Cadets.
Arriving in darkness the staff and cadets walked out just under a mile onto the training area, carrying their full kit, arriving at Building 109. After a briefing, the 3 stars went straight out to set up their Harbour area, whilst the others settled down in Building 109.
Even after temperatures of -1, spirits were high, and training and testing commenced after breakfast.
57 One Star Trainers learnt Field and Navigation skills in preparation for the county's Annual Camp in August.
The One Star Testing group successfully defended against a Two Star attack as well being bombarded by a Psycho Pheasant who carried out ambushes at various times throughout the weekend.
The Two Stars were put through their paces including a night ambush by the Three Stars which seemed to be the highlight of everyone’s weekend with the One Stars able to observe.
54 APC passes were achieved on a very successful Weekend Training Camp but more importantly 99 happy cadets that didn’t want to leave on the Sunday.
