Award Presentation Evening
The Army Reserve Centre, Peterborough was the backdrop for Cambridgeshire ACF’s Award Evening. With a packed audience of parents and friends Cadets received their Awards from Mr Richard Barnwell, Vice-Lord Lieutentant of Cambridgeshire.
The evening started off with a welcome from Col. Mark Knight MBE DL, Cadet Commandant, before Mr Barnwell went on to present several awards including Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards, CVQO Awards and Army Proficiency Certificates. Several promotions were also made.
A special award was made to Cadet Sgt Kier McAvoy who received the Hannah Roberts Memorial Flute from Mr & Mrs Roberts. Hannah was a cadet and Instructor until she passed away in April 2018. As an acknowledgement of Hannah’s contribution to the Corps of Drums it was decided to create this Award.
A music display by the Corps of Drums including the newly purchased keyboard and drum was enjoyed by all. The equipment was provided from a Grant via the High Sheriff’s Fund along with funds to enable a CD recording of some 26 tunes.
The CD was launched at the end of the evening by Under Officer Roberts presenting the first copy to Mr Barnwell.
