Armed Forces Week is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. There are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved.
Mon 21 Jun – Launch Day:
The official national campaign starts today with a small number of flag raising events around the UK.
Cheshire ACF Campaign:
In Cheshire there will be a flag raising event held for a small number of VIPs at the Police Headquarters in Winsford to officially start the AF21 across the county.
Tue 22 Jun – Union & Commonwealth Day:
Opportunity to celebrate the contribution the Devolved Nations and Commonwealth make to the Armed Forces and illustrate our close Defence relationships with the Commonwealth countries.
Cheshire ACF Campaign:
To help further celebrate this day we will be setting our cadets a STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) challenge to make a flag and raise it in their garden or detachment - More details to follow
Wed 23 Jun – Reserve Forces Day:
The Reserves will be running several virtual events and putting out a video of thanks from celebrities/VIPs, and we will run case studies of individual Reserves.
Cheshire ACF Campaign:
We will be asking our cadets and CFAVs to send pictures or videos of family members who are currently reservists thanking them for their service.
Thu 24 Jun – Armed Forces Covenant:
This is the 10th anniversary year of the AF Covenant. The national Campaign will be looking to highlight the way in which industry and Defence honour the Covenant.
Cheshire ACF Campaign:
Now that all our detachments are back open we will be asking our cadets to send photos in proudly saluting in their uniform in front of their detachment.
Fri 25 Jun – Veterans:
The national Campaign will be looking for opportunities to highlight veteran-related activity. Also looking for opportunities to highlight where veterans (like Captain Sir Tom Moore), raised money for charities during lockdown or volunteered their time. Key message for us is that the military is not just a career, but a through-life journey.
Cheshire ACF Campaign:
We will be asking our cadets to send pictures or videos of family members who are veterans proudly displaying their medals!
Sat 26 Jun – Armed Forces Day:
Sadly, this year no large-scale parades will take place this year.
Cheshire ACF Campaign:
We will be asking our cadets to find their creative streak by either baking a cake with the Armed Forces flag on it or simply drawing the Armed Forces flag.
Please remember, throughout the campaign we will be asking for our cadets and CFAVs to send in photos and videos directly into our social media accounts including Facebook and Instagram – thanking you all in advance.
