Thanks to the pandemic restrictions cadet camps have been suspended for some 18 months. However, the easing of restrictions and some considerable efforts by staff and support organisation the first of the 2021 “Mini-Camps” is underway.
Commandant Col Martin L Craven said “despite all the barriers and hurdles we've had to overcome, the first of our 'mini summer camps' has started. After all the delays and cancelations I am over the moon that once again cadets are assembling for the highlight of the cadet year – summer camp.”
Davie Jones of the Permanent Support Staff reported “it has taken a considerable effort to arrange for a tented camp within the Welsh restrictions. Numerous risk assessments were required taking account of such things as camp locations, separations, fire precautions, etc.” Davie added, “we had great support from Capita Fire who were able to turn round the necessary certification in a very short time.”
Whilst the camp is using tented accommodation the main accommodation washing and dining facilities are available.
