To adapt and overcome was the order of the day for Albuhera Company whose residential training weekend at Kinmel Park Camp was a victim of the Covid restrictions in Wales.

The ever-resourceful Albuhera team arranged a series of day-long companywide training activities at different locations.

In Hightown Barracks there was a Basic and 1-star training cadre run by SI Stone and PI Sgt Callaghan getting some of the more junior cadets off on the right foot with solid foundations for them to progress in cadets. In addition, an NCO leadership cadre, overseen by AUO Heyward and some of the senior cadets, helped prepare the next group of senior cadets.

Meanwhile in Brynteg Detachment SSI Atherton and PI Bishop delivered a first aid course. SSI Atherton reported “The Cadets were fantastic, a long day, yet their dedication to absorb and take on the content was outstanding. A fantastic COVID-19 aware training day was enjoyed by all”

In addition, SSI Owen Peters led a navigation training programme at the Erddig estate making great use of the parkland. Owen said, “It has been fantastic to observe the achievements made today by each cadet learning, developing, and perfecting their navigation skills on the ground.”

To top off the day cadets Emily Wynne, Tia Hughes, Tomos Evans, Harry Ashton, and Callum Evans all of Wrexham detachment received their new rank sliders on their promotion to Lance Corporal.
