Sunday 20th February saw Derbyshire ACFs Combat Cadet Team join forces with a team of CCF Army and RAF section cadets from Mount St Marys College.
This was the first joint activity organised by SMI Paula Hickerman (ACF) and Capt Saami Al-Khamiri (CCF), the day was a huge success.
The aim of the day was to support the Combat Cadet team to meet their training objectives in preparation for a competition in March. The CCF supported the event by providing valuable enemy forces and casualties during the CASEVAC phase. The training day consisted of four phases, operating in built up areas, CASEVAC, Observation & stalk and the final phase was the assault on the enemy position. During this phase all the cadets had the opportunity to fire blank ammunition and put the skills they had picked up during the day into practice.
Although it was a very wet day and the weather was largely against them all cadets finished the day with beaming smiles on their faces, feedback from all was very positive and they are looking forwards to training together again.
It is hoped that this will be the first of many joint ventures.
