A Surprise Promotion!

Company OC, Major David Saunders, was delighted to be able to promote Gareth from Red to Yellow Probationary Instructor (PI). PI is the rank that adults new to the Army Cadet Force wear whilst undergoing their training, with the different coloured bands denoting where they are in their development package. Wearing the yellow band means that an adult is ready to undergo the final part of their initial training, which is a week long course known as the ‘AIC’.

Although some adults join the ACF having previous Regular, Reserve or Cadet experience, there are also many that have no prior knowledge at all. The package of training allows all adults, whatever their previous experience, to receive training appropriate to their needs and to enable them to develop the skills, confidence and ability to provide the appropriate support for Cadets. And of course, we all know that training is continuous, so there are always professional development opportunities open to all Adult Instructors, no matter what their experience or rank. After all, it’s about being able to offer our cadets the best opportunities, isn’t it?!

Congratulations PI Griffiths!
