A busy training weekend for adults at Holcombe Moor Training Camp over the weekend.
The adults attending the weekend are all at different levels in their training to become qualified instructors. This meant putting together the training programme was a challenge. However, it was nothing that our Deputy Commandant, Lt Col Paul Smillie couldn’t organise and with the help of our experienced staff who were assisting on the weekend, the training went smoothly and to plan.
The training included Weapon Handling Tests, Fieldcraft, Safeguarding, Westminster Training, Drill & Turnout and Navigation out on the area of Holcombe Moor Training Centre. The navigation was quite challenging in the driving rain that we had on Saturday but, as always, there was no complaints from our amazing adult volunteers.
Running alongside the new adult training a First Aid at Work Course was run by SSI Paul Barber. The course was a re qualifier for staff that have previously taken and passed a First Aid at Work Course. There was lots of laugh when I spent some time with them. It is one of the great courses that is run in the ACF and brings with it a qualification that the staff can also use outside of the ACF in their own employment.
Overall, a great weekend of adult training.
