876 Remembered - Captain Gordon Allan

Members of the “Cambs 876 Remembered” project supported by Col Colin Elsden DL, representing the Lord Lieutentant of Cambridgeshire, Cambridgeshire Regt Assoc. Members and Ely Detachment, Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force gathered outside the Regimental Chapel in Ely Cathedral on Sat. 22 Nov to remember Lieutentant Gordon Allan.

873 of 876 Lt Gordon Allan of the 3rd/1st and 4th /1st Battalions, The Cambridgeshire Regiment died on 26th November 1919 aged 26. Son of Mrs Allan of 171 Ridge Road, Durban, South Africa was born in Kent in 1893. Gordon died on 26th Nov. 1919 at Sanatorium Durban (Military Ward) from sickness. He is remembered with honour at Durban ( West Street) Cemetery.

Members from Ely Detachment under 2Lt Darryl Garner joined the service and laid a wreath and two poppy crosses on the Alter in the Cambridgeshire Regimental Chapel.

Col Mark Knight MBE DL, Commandant said ”Since 2014 when the Project began we have given support at every service held in the County. Its important to us as we remember of links with the Cambridgeshire Regiment as we proudly wear the TRF of the Regiment on our uniforms today”
