Rosyth Detachment Shines at 80th Anniversary Commemoration of D-Day at Hillend

In a solemn and poignant ceremony, the Rosyth Detachment played a key role in the 80th Anniversary Commemoration of D-Day at Hillend. This significant event honoured the bravery and sacrifice of those who participated in Operation Overlord, the historic Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II.

A Moving Tribute

The commemoration featured heartfelt tributes from various community members, reflecting on the profound impact of D-Day. The Rosyth Detachment's contributions were particularly noteworthy, showcasing the dedication and respect of the young cadets towards this pivotal moment in history.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was a reading delivered by LCpl Ava Rice. Her eloquent and moving narration on Operation Overlord provided a vivid reminder of the courage and determination of the soldiers who fought on that fateful day.
