Battalion Summer Camp Photo Competition Winners

More than 2,000 photographs were submitted to this year’s Battalion Summer Camp photo competition, showcasing the energy, commitment and shared experiences of our Cadets and Adult Volunteers.

The images captured the real spirit of Summer Camp: courage in the face of challenge, teamwork under pressure, friendships that grow stronger and moments of achievement worth remembering. AI was used to help narrow the large number of submissions; the final shortlist and winners were then selected for the stories their photographs told.

Celebrating Cadet Experience

From water obstacles and raft-building to field training and exploration, every entry offered a different view of Cadet life. Most importantly, the photographs showed natural moments of people learning, supporting one another and enjoying the adventure.

Winner — Sgt L Tonge

Sgt L Tonge takes first place with an exceptional frozen moment of a Cadet mid-leap across a water obstacle. The image is joyful, energetic and visually striking, perfectly capturing the fun and challenge of Summer Camp.

Runner-up — Sgt McGrath

Sgt McGrath’s photograph earned second place for its powerful depiction of teamwork and determination. With every hand contributing to the barrel-raft challenge, the image shows Cadets working together towards a shared goal.

Third Place — Lt Moir

Lt Moir’s third-place image follows a purposeful group moving through a historic gateway. Strong depth and leading lines create a real sense of pride, shared experience and achievement.

Highly Commended

• Sgt Matthewson received a highly commended award for a compelling field-training image that shows leadership and teamwork in action.
• Sgt D Tonge received a highly commended award for an authentic moment of Cadets learning, planning and supporting one another in the field.
