Over 3,500 Army Cadets from across Great Britain took part in a unique three-day French battlefield tour in October 2018 – to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the WW1 Armistice. The visit was organised into five groups, each comprising around 700 cadets and adults.
Each group of cadets stayed overnight at Shorncliffe in Kent on Day One before travelling to France for a full day of activities on Day Two.
Once in France the cadets travelled by coach to visit four educational stands. The stands gave the cadets the chance to talk to experts about the causes of WW1, the course of the War, technology (including tanks, mines, aircraft, artillery and radio), media, medicine and commemoration.
During the afternoon of Day Two the cadets took part in a commemorative parade at the Thiepval Memorial before travelling back to overnight at Shorncliffe.
After breakfast on Day Three the cadets journeyed back to their home counties.
