HM Lord-Lieutenant of Fife Visits Cowdenbeath Detachment
Cowdenbeath Detachment welcomed HM Lord-Lieutenant of Fife, Mr Robert Balfour, for a special evening celebrating cadet achievement, leadership, and personal development.
The visit gave cadets the opportunity to showcase their skills, share their experiences, and demonstrate the positive impact that the Army Cadet Force has on young people across Fife.
Showcasing Cadet Skills and Development
During his visit, Mr Balfour watched cadets taking part in a drill display, witnessing first-hand the high standards of discipline, teamwork, and commitment within the detachment.
Following the display, he spent time speaking with cadets and adult volunteers, learning more about the opportunities available through the Army Cadet Force and the valuable skills young people gain through their participation.
Recognition for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Excellence
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a prestigious award to former Cadet Company Sergeant Major Rubyann Held.
Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK Excellence Award
Rubyann was presented with the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK Excellence Award in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme.
This award recognises exceptional commitment, perseverance, and personal achievement. Throughout her cadet career, Rubyann consistently demonstrated these qualities while successfully completing the challenges and opportunities offered through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Her success is a testament to her dedication and serves as an inspiration to current and future cadets alike.
Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet Appointment
The evening also marked an important milestone for Cadet Staff Sergeant Kyle Trenberth.
Certificate and Badge Presentation
Cadet Staff Sergeant Trenberth was formally presented with his Army Cadet Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet Certificate and Badge, recognising his appointment to this prestigious role.
The position of Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet is awarded to cadets who have shown exceptional commitment, leadership, and service. It is one of the highest honours a cadet can receive within their county.
Over the next year, Cadet SSgt Trenberth will accompany the Lord-Lieutenant of Fife and his Deputy Lieutenants at official engagements and ceremonial events throughout the county. The appointment provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience while representing both the Army Cadet Force and the wider cadet community.
Celebrating Achievement and Leadership
The visit highlighted the important role the Army Cadet Force plays in helping young people develop confidence, leadership skills, resilience, and lifelong friendships.
Events such as this not only celebrate individual success but also recognise the dedication of the cadets and volunteers who work hard to achieve excellence.
Congratulations to former Cadet Company Sergeant Major Rubyann Held on receiving the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK Excellence Award, and to Cadet Staff Sergeant Kyle Trenberth on his appointment as a Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet.
