Serving cadets (aged 16-18) and adult volunteers (aged under 24) who are considering an apprenticeship can opt to attend a Skills Group apprenticeships4me programme as part of the broader ACFA Skills Development and Apprenticeships Programme.
(NB: Cadet applicants are advised to attend the introduction2employability course before enrolling on apprenticeships4me.)
The apprenticeships4me programme gives participants access to a Skills Group career advisor who will invite them to attend an interview to discuss their career aspirations and get advice and guidance about their options. The careers advisor will also discuss current vacancies that may be of interest and put participants forward for an interview with an employer, or offer them a place on a full-time learn2work programme.
Those who go on to an apprenticeship will be employed by a top local company and paid a wage. Skills Group will also help participants to gain the trade specific skills they need for their job.
