The “Cadet to Career” (C2C) four-day course (first launched in 2013) aims to help senior cadets to prepare when applying for employment, apprenticeships or further education. The course is aimed at senior cadets who are not particularly academic or likely to go on to higher education.
The course is organised by the ACFA in conjunction with Remploy Ltd, the UK's largest provider of specialist employment services. Remploy employees volunteer their time as part of the company’s Community Service commitment and the company does not levy a charge for its services.
Over the four-day course the cadets learn about CV presentation (and how to describe their cadet achievements), how to apply for jobs and research potential employers. as well as taking part in dummy interviews with Remploy recruiters. On the final day local employers are invited to attend presentations by the cadets and to network over lunch.
The course runs in a specific county each year and takes place on four separate weekdays over four weeks in July/August each year.
This year (2016) the ACFA is also trialling a Skills Development and Apprenticeship Programme with Devon ACF and Cornwall ACF, in partnership with the Skills Group, the leading skills training and apprenticeship provider in the South West.
