From thrilling global adventures to remarkable national achievements, 2024 has been a year to remember for the Army Cadets. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the incredible highlights of the past 12 months.

Exploring New Horizons Across the Globe

This year, the Army Cadets expanded their horizons like never before! The India Youth Exchange allowed cadets and Adult Volunteers to train alongside their Indian counterparts, building international friendships. Summer brought an exciting four-week expedition to Canada, where participants enjoyed hiking, mountain biking, paddling adventures, and community outreach.

Cadets from six countries joined us in the UK for a memorable three-week exchange. Highlights included Fieldcraft in the Scottish wilderness, Adventurous Training in Wales, and an elegant dinner at the House of Lords.

The Alps also offered unforgettable experiences, from skiing in Bavaria to completing Gold Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, proving the Army Cadets’ thirst for adventure knows no bounds.

Making a Difference on Home Ground

Back in the UK, cadets demonstrated their talents and spirit in incredible ways. The Rorke’s Drift Concert, Military Music Spectacular, and Edinburgh’s iconic Beating Retreat showcased the musical excellence of our cadets.

Cadets were honoured to march in the Armed Forces section of London Pride and the King’s Birthday Parade for the first time.

Summer camps welcomed 25,000 cadets for unique experiences filled with camaraderie, learning, and life-changing memories, further solidifying the impact of the Army Cadets across the nation.

Building Communities and Honouring Traditions

The Army Cadets continued to support communities throughout the year, contributing to causes such as the Poppy Appeal and Walking With The Wounded. Gold DofE Residentials also allowed cadets to engage deeply with their local communities.

Cultural connections were another highlight, with cadets performing at the Estes Park International Tattoo in Colorado and commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy. Hosting HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was a significant moment, reflecting the Army Cadets’ strong ties to heritage and tradition.

Rising to the Challenge: Competitions and Achievements

2024 was a year of challenges that pushed cadets to excel. Sporting events like the National Football Competition and National Athletics Championship highlighted the athleticism of our cadets. Rugby enthusiasts celebrated spirited performances at the National Rugby 7s and the Army vs Navy Youth Festival at Twickenham Stadium.

Innovation and resilience were also on display, with over 280 cadets diving into cutting-edge projects at STEM Camp. Shooting competitions, the National First Aid Competition, and the Ten Tors Challenge exemplified the cadets’ drive and determination.

Adult Volunteers also shone, with 76 completing their Initial Officer Training and countless others gaining valuable vocational qualifications.

Looking Forward to Another Inspiring Year

As we close the chapter on 2024, we reflect on the dedication and enthusiasm of our cadets and Adult Volunteers. Your commitment has made this year unforgettable.

Here’s to continuing our success in 2025!
