87% of Outreach participants show a measurable improvement in behaviour

Outreach is an Army Cadet Force programme that reaches out to crime-vulnerable and socially- and educationally-disadvantaged young people in the community.  It is an early-intervention, preventative programme suited to boys and girls that fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Behaviour problems
  • Low self-esteem
  • Subject to a police warning
  • Low achiever
  • Socially-excluded
  • Excluded from school
  • Truanting
  • Low-level offenders
  • The ideal age range is 13 to 15, though we have run programmes with young people of other ages.

If you are interested in partnering with us on Outreach, please contact our National Project Support Officer, Colin Charters.

Referral agencies and partner organisations evaluate participants’ progress immediately following the residential programme and again at three and nine months later.  Here are some recent results:

84% of low achievers showed positive improvements in achievement

85% of those referred to the programme with low self-esteem showed significant improvements during the programme which were sustained long after its completion

90% of participants subject to a police warning have not since re-offended

78% of those excluded from school are now happily settled in school

87% of all participants showed a measurable improvement in behaviour
