Lucky cadets fly with the Red Arrows

6 July 2010

Thousands of cadets, adult volunteers and their families across the UK are still on cloud nine following the Cadet150 Royal Review in London on 6th July.

On the same day a group of seven lucky cadets from each of the four Cadet Forces took part in the experience of a lifetime – the chance to fly over the celebrations at Buckingham Palace in a Hawk aircraft, with the world famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows.

CSM Matthew Thompson from Nottinghamshire ACF and Cadet Corporal Andrew Hurst from Derbyshire ACF were selected to take part in the specially arranged flight.

On their return Matthew said: "I’ve seen the Red Arrows at shows but never in a million years did I think I’d actually fly with them.  You feel like you could reach out and touch the other planes.  They really are that close".
