14.02.12

On Tuesday 14th February Cadets from D Company formed a guard of honour to welcome the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire to one of his final civic engagements in Stoke-on-Trent.

Sir James Hawley KCVO was invited to the King’s Hall for a civic reception to celebrate his forthcoming retirement after 19 years as the Queen’s Official representative in the County.

The Lord Lieutenant and his wife, Lady Susan, Hawley were first welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Terry Follows, before being taken into the hall for afternoon tea, where they were joined by dignitaries as well as army, sea and air cadets.

Sir James has served as Lord Lieutenant since 1993.

On March 28, Sir James is being replaced as Lord Lieutenant by industrialist Ian Dudson, whose family ceramics firm Dudson Group is based in Tunstall.
