05.10.11
Jumping in at the deep end was all in days work for 18 cadets from Essex ACF.
Taking part in this year’s regional swimming competition at RAF Cranwell on October 1 were cadets from all four companies.
The performances from across the region were outstanding and collectively resulted in 13 records being broken, six of which were achieved by Essex.
New records were set by LCpl Richardson in the 75m backstroke, Cdt J Vickers in both 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley, Cdt T Vickers in 50m Butterfly and 75m backstroke and finally the senior boys 50m freestyle relay.
Overall Essex now holds 10 of a possible 24 records.
Each race winner was awarded 10 points which decreased by one point for each following place.
With the combined results from each race the junior girls finished a respectable fourth and junior boys finished second and both senior girls and boys took the top spot.
Collectively this placed Essex third in the overall rankings with a total of 120 points only 12 points behind winners Leicester,Northants and Rutland.
Going through to the nationals in Sandhurst on 15 October will be LCpl Malcolm, Cdt Richardson, Cdt J Vickers and Cdt T Vickers.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and represented Essex.
