D Company named 2011 Champion Company

Whilst APC training and testing is always our primary aim, competition and rivalry being the all the Companies of Durham ACF is always intense. Each year the inter-County Champion Company competition attracts much focus and dedication from both staff and perhaps more importantly the cadets.
The competition is held across the year and comprises a number of wide ranging events from athletics and orienteering, to shooting and weapon handling, even including room inspections at annual camp!. Needless to say the competition across of the events is fierce, with the winning Company of each event taking away not only pride, but those all important Champion Company Points.
This year like many others, the competition was close – with the events at Annual Camp deciding the ultimate outcome. Naturally this made for an exciting camp and the competition remained close throughout.
After a hard fought competition there had to be a winner – with D Company being victorious once again and reclaiming the title of Champion Company for the second time in 3 years. All as a result of the hard work from the cadets and adults over the past year.
That said, there is no time for a rest! The 2011/2012 competition gets underway in a matter of weeks....with the much sought after Champion Company shield being proudly displayed in D Company HQ, the race is on to make sure it stays there next year too!
