Annual Camp 2011 - Altcar

29.07.11

Annual Camp 2011 - Altcar. And what a camp it was! Altcar proved to be an ideal location for the Bn’s annual venture. Over 300 cadets and 80 adults headed South to the coast just North of Liverpool for a fortnight of fun and adventure.

This year’s camp comprised 3 One Star companies, a large 2 Star cadre and a Senior Company, as well as the all-important HQ element. The seniors enjoyed range work with the LSW, adventurous training at Halton, a study day on D Day followed by an exhausting but rewarding field exercise with their own mini Pegasus Bridge. The2 Stars enjoyed time on the range, in the field and also at Halton with the adventurous training package, including hill walking, scrambling, mountain biking, canoeing and caving.

The One Stars revised their APC syllabus before having time on the ranges and in the field. They spent a day boating at Southport’s dedicated water centre and an in camp day trying out the obstacle course, mountain biking skills, radios and shooting on the DCCT.

Other highlights included the Mil Skills competition and sports afternoon, our day out at Southport, discos, a ceilidh and quiz night, our parade and drumhead service and some excellent impressions at the company skits.

And now the clearing up is just about complete, preparations are beginning for our 2012 camp at Barry Buddon, not too far from home, near Dundee.
