CADET RECIEVES A ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY AWARD

11.06.12

Cadet Sergeant Stewart Probert of Knockbreda ACF Detachment has been presented with a Royal Humane Society Award by the Battalion Honorary Colonel.  Stewart was presented with the award for his prompt action in saving the life of a fellow cadet whilst at summer camp last year.

Stewart was on duty when he was called to a cadet choking inside an accommodation block.  The cadet was in severe distress and could not breathe.  Stewart carried out abdominal thrusts, the second of which was successful in ejecting a large piece of food.  The cadet could not speak afterwards and had turned purple.  His ACF Company Commander was in no doubt that Stewarts ability to think quickly and take prompt action had been life saving.
