The team, which administers the ACF Music Service, is now firmly established. The National Music Advisor collates all the requests for support and with his team of regional advisors assists in everything from school sports functions to very important military events, from Parades to dinner nights, as well as giving support to each county's music department with urgently required instruments, music and uniforms and sometimes personnel.
During the past few years groups of cadets have played for Her Majesty the Queen, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Royal Military Hospital Chelsea as well as many international tattoos and music festivals in Germany, Holland and even Malta.
During 2010 the team co-ordinated bands from all over the country to parade down the Mall and be the first composite ACF band to play on the lawns of Buckingham Palace in front of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to celebrate the 150th birthday of the cadet movement.
It is due to the continued support of the Regular Army through the National Music Advisor that ACF music has developed so quickly and successfully. Now in its 18th year, the department supports 17 military bands, 34 corps of drums and 8 pipe bands in Scotland. This amounts to over 2000 young men and women in Army Cadet Force music.
