Through your cadet activities you will gain loads of valuable skills, experience, leadership qualities and more self-confidence. In addition, you can gain a whole range of qualifications such as the ACF Star Awards, BTEC First Diplomas, Certificate in Team Leading from the Institute of Leadership and Management and the high profile of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards - seriously impressive marks of achievement. You have the opportunity to gain all of them as an Army Cadet simply by doing a small amount of work on top of your cadet activities through our relationship with CVQO (the Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation).
BTEC First Diploma in Public Services
If you are a cadet aged 16 and over you can earn a BTEC First Diploma in Public Services, absolutely fee-free. Some of the skills covered are as follows:
- CV Development
- Interviewing Skills
- Public Speaking/Presentations
- First Aid and Nutrition
- Adventure Training
BTEC First Diploma in Music
Also available to cadets over 16. You will gain a basic understanding of music as a profession and have demonstrated ability in both performing music and as well as organising rehearsals and looking after budgets, marketing, advertising and publicising a musical event.
ILM Certificate in Team Leading
A qualification for the nation's best! Cadets who complete the Master Cadet Course are eligible for this Certificate in Team Leading from the Institute of Leadership and Management. The award mixes theory and practical elements with an emphasis on leadership, teamwork and communications and is the first step in the managerial process. It is a valuable award recognised in industry by employers.
